Getting started
What is LvlUpKids?
LvlUpKids is a family chore and reward app. Parents create quests, children submit completed tasks, and parents approve work so children can earn XP toward custom rewards.
What kinds of tasks can become quests?
Use clear everyday responsibilities such as putting books away, packing a school bag, or helping clear the table. Adapt tasks to your child's ability and the supervision available. See our chore ideas by age for starting points.
How should we start?
Create your family, add your child profiles, and start with a few simple quests and one reward. Explain what done looks like, show how to submit a quest, and review the first completion together. A short list is easier to adjust than a full household schedule.
Quests and rewards
What does XP mean?
XP means experience points in the app's quest system. Your family uses these points to make progress visible and work toward rewards. The XP examples in our guides are illustrations; you choose values that fit your household.
Can chores repeat?
The LvlUpKids App Store listing describes one-time, daily, and weekly quests. Use recurring quests for routines and one-time quests for a specific job. Check the controls available in your installed version.
Who approves completed chores?
A parent reviews quest submissions. Discuss anything unfinished with your child so they understand what to do next.
Can I choose the rewards?
Yes. Create a reward menu around what your family values and can provide: choosing a game, planning an outing, or another agreed experience. Reward requests also involve parent review.
Do rewards have to cost money?
No. Choosing a playlist, leading a family walk, or picking a board game can be part of your menu. Our reward ideas guide includes options that do not require a purchase.
Does LvlUpKids pay an allowance or provide a debit card?
The chore-and-reward workflow described here uses XP and parent-created rewards. Do not treat XP as a bank balance or payment service. If banking and allowance transfers are your main need, compare that workflow separately in our Greenlight comparison.
Family and devices
Can another parent help manage the family?
Yes. LvlUpKids includes co-parent support. Use the app's invitation process and agree on task expectations and rewards together. See our co-parent setup guide.
Where can I download LvlUpKids?
Download from the Apple App Store or Google Play. Check the listing for your device and region for current availability, compatibility, and purchase options.
Is LvlUp Companion the same app?
No. LvlUpKids is the family chore and reward app. LvlUp Companion is the separate companion app for supported child-device controls. Setup, permissions, subscriptions, and capabilities depend on the device and release. Do not assume every control works identically on iPhone and Android.
Where can I read about family information and privacy?
Read the published privacy policy, including its effective date. It explains information handling and how to contact the operator. Use a parent-managed account and avoid including identifying family details in public reviews or screenshots.
Billing and support
How much does it cost?
The Apple listing shows a free download with optional in-app purchases. Check the purchase screen for the exact plan, currency, billing period, renewal price, and any eligibility conditions. Website examples should not replace the terms displayed before purchase.
How do I manage or cancel a subscription?
If Apple bills you, open Settings on your iPhone or iPad, select your name, then Subscriptions and the subscription you want to cancel. If Google Play bills you, open your subscriptions in Google Play, choose the subscription, and follow the cancellation steps. Use the account that made the purchase; uninstalling the app does not replace cancellation. See Apple's subscription instructions or Google Play's subscription instructions for the current steps and other devices.
How can I get help or request deletion?
Contact [email protected] for help, or use the data deletion request page. Describe the issue and your app version; do not email passwords or payment details.
