Already have the app? Follow the three steps ↓
Use LvlUpKids on one shared phone. Your child does not need their own phone, and these steps do not require the separate LvlUp Companion app.
- Parent picks
Put five books on the shelf. This quest earns 10 XP.
- Child does
Put the books away, then tap “I did it!”
- Parent approves
Check the shelf together and approve the finished quest.
- Child earns XP
10 XP earned toward “Choose our next family game,” priced at 10 XP.
An example you can adapt. You set the quest value, reward cost and when the family game happens.
Your first quest in three steps
-
Create your family and add one child
Open LvlUpKids as the parent and follow the family setup. Add your child’s profile and set your parent PIN. If your family is already set up, choose the child you will try this with.
Start together on your phone. Keep the parent PIN for the grown-ups.
-
Choose one quest and one reward
Create a quest for your child: “Put five books on the shelf” for 10 XP. Show which books and where they belong. Choose a task your child can do with the help available.
Keep parent approval on. Look for “You check it first” or the approval setting in your version; this makes the quest wait for your review before XP is awarded.
Add one reward: “Choose our next family game” for 10 XP. Agree on when you can play. These are example values, so change them together if a different task or reward fits better.
-
Hand over the phone, then approve together
Open your child’s view and hand them the phone. Let them find the quest, put the books away, then tap “I did it!” to submit it. Button wording can vary by app version.
Take the phone back, switch to the parent view using your parent PIN, and open the waiting quest. Check the shelf together and approve it. Your child earns the quest’s 10 XP.
Show your child the earned XP and the reward it can cover. When they request the reward, review it and follow through on your family’s plan.
Keep the first try small
If the task is unfinished, point out the next small step and help where needed. Once it is done, approve it together. There is no need to build a whole weekly schedule tonight.
One completed quest is enough to learn the loop: you choose, they do, you approve, they earn XP.
