Write your household agreement in three parts
First, identify everyday contributions. These are the responsibilities you expect each person to help with as a member of the household. Second, identify anything your family wants to connect to a reward. Third, decide how you will handle optional extra work. Families can draw those lines differently; clarity matters more than copying another household’s rules.
If you already give an allowance, decide whether it continues independently of chores or depends on some part of the routine. Make that choice before an app asks you to configure it. Otherwise, a convenient default can accidentally become a family rule you never discussed.

Evaluate the routine, not just the balance
Track how often adults need to explain the rules again, how much administration the system takes, and whether your child can name the next step. Completion totals alone will not tell you if the process creates more arguments or leaves one adult doing all the work.
Choose the approach that matches the agreement you actually want to keep. Review official availability and plan terms before starting, and revisit your household rules after a week or two. If the first attempt is too complicated, reduce the number of tasks or choices before assuming your family needs a different app.
