The application requires certain device permissions to provide these parental control features.

D. Camera Access

What We Collect

The camera is accessed only when the user chooses to scan a pairing QR code.

Why We Collect It

Camera access is used exclusively to:

Scan a QR code generated by the Parent App.
Complete the device pairing process.

LvlUpKids Companion:

Does not record videos.
Does not capture photographs for storage.
Does not upload images to our servers.
Does not retain camera content after scanning.

3. Local VPN Service

LvlUpKids Companion uses Android's VpnService technology.

What It Does

The application creates a local VPN connection on the device.

Why It Is Used

The local VPN enables the app to:

Block internet access for selected applications.
Pause internet connectivity according to parental rules.
Restrict online activity without disabling Wi-Fi for the entire device.

Important Privacy Information

The VPN operates entirely on the child's device. LvlUpKids Companion:

Does not route internet traffic through our servers.
Does not monitor browsing history.
Does not inspect website content.
Does not collect personal communications.
Does not log network traffic.
Does not store browsing activity.

The VPN exists solely to locally enforce parental restrictions.

4. Overlay and Accessibility Features

LvlUpKids Companion may display screens over other applications using Android's overlay functionality.

This feature allows the app to:

Display a blocking screen when a restricted application is launched.
Inform the child that parental restrictions are active.
Prevent access to blocked content.

The overlay functionality is used only for parental control enforcement.

We use Google Firebase Cloud Firestore to securely store and synchronize information required for parental control services.
